Best of Operation Melt: Part 5

This was week 145 of my Operation Melt journey that started with my goal to escape obesity and lose over 100 pounds in under a year. Now I am sharing my journey to both keep myself accountable and to help you as you work to crush your own goals.

Best of Operation Melt: Part 5

Just two more weeks of my Best of Operation Melt blog reposts. As I wrote in my end of February post I am taking the season of Lent as a time to rest, reflect, refocus and reinvigorate my Operation Melt blog and related things. So I am not writing any new posts during this time.

Instead of writing new posts I am sharing the Best of Operation Melt. I am looking back at some of my favorite posts from the past 145 weeks. There is some good stuff in some of these old posts and I don’t want them to be lost forever.

For this week’s look-back I am actually sharing a 3-for from July of 2018. Just about one month after celebrating the anniversary of starting my journey I achieved a new milestone and had a bit of a rollercoaster week thanks to vacation eating.

The week started with achieving my revised weight loss goal. As you know my original goal was to lose over 100 pounds in under a year. Once I achieved that goal just nine months in I needed to pivot to focus on something else. So I decided that I wanted to get my weight under 200 pounds for the first time since probably junior high. This would reflect a total weight loss of 125 pounds and seemed super aggressive. It was particularly aggressive as I had started building muscle at the same time.

On July 19 of 2018, just 13 months into my journey, I did it! Read my milestone morning post Milestone: Over 125 Pounds Down & Under 200 Pounds at https://www.operationmelt.com/2018/07/19/milestone-over-125-pounds-down-under-200-pounds/

Later that weekend, right after starting vacation, I further reflected on this milestone and what it meant to me in a bigger picture view. This post included reflecting on all of the ways that I heard my goal was impossible as I worked to crush it. Then some reality set in; life doesn’t always go the way we hope. I was on vacation. I was having a great time but I was also eating a lot, snacking a lot and drinking a lot and frequently missing my daily targets despite ramping up exercise. Just one more week of my Best of Operation Melt posts before I get back to writing new content and next week will be a big one. Next week I will be talking about an accomplishment that made me super emotional and still does when I tell the story. What is it? You’ll just have to check back next week.

I have also started thinking about the next phase of my blog and have some fun ideas up my sleeve. In just a couple of weeks I will start sharing some of that. Between now and then don’t be surprised if you see some changes start creeping into OperationMelt.com.

And don’t forget to check out my daily Pandemic Fitness Tips by following me on social media at @OperationMelt or access them on the Operation Melt Blog at https://www.operationmelt.com/category/pandemic-fitness-tips/

Throughout this rough time I plan to continue looking for every opportunity to help myself and stay positive and healthy. Hopefully this leadership helps others get through this time as happy, healthy and productive as possible.
