Putting It All Out There: Whitney’s Unique Mission-Driven Life (Interview)

Are you choosing to live a happy, fulfilled life?

That’s right, studies have proven that ninety percent of the factors that make the difference between a happy life and an unhappy life are factors within your control. One life hack proven to help unlock your best life is setting, pursuing, and achieving goals.

Yes, you can choose a happy life, but don’t take my word for it! Here’s an example of how other people – people just like you – are choosing to achieve happiness through their goals.

Are you ready for a dad joke?

I offer you this "dad joke" as a light "amuse-bouche" to entertain your mind before we get serious. My dad joke may be groan-worthy, but it's worth every penny you paid for it, right?

I got an email today claiming it could teach me how to read maps backwards… it was spam.

Putting It All Out There: Whitney’s Unique Mission-Driven Life (Interview)

Welcome to this week’s Interview with a Goal-Crusher. In these interviews, I sit down with someone accomplishing big things by setting and achieving their goals to learn their secrets. Then I share those secrets with you. It’s like free mentoring from someone already on the road to success. Who doesn’t want that?!

Every once in a while, you meet a person who is just different. They may have a different energy, vision, ways of looking at life or some combination of these. You can’t quite put your finger on it, but you walk away from the conversation feeling better about life.

That happened when I had coffee with Whitney Brewer a few months ago. I knew that Whitney, a friend of a friend, was a photographer specializing in body-positive boudoir and erotica photos, but I didn’t know much more. I arranged the coffee to get to know more about what she does and how she does it.

To my surprise, I walked away from this meet-and-greet coffee completely inspired by Whitney. I learned that she had many lines of business, photography and non-photography, and all these activities connect in an unexpected way. My ah-ha was that I had just met someone living her life in support of a clear mission and purpose. In my words, Whitney’s mission is to empower people to live their most authentic, confident, successful and happiest lives.

How often do you meet someone with such focused and positive energy?

After meeting such a unique and inspirational person, I knew I wanted to learn more about her story and share it with you.

Please introduce yourself and tell my readers about you and what you do.

Hi, I’m Whitney!

First and foremost, I’m a human being. I am not perfect, but I strive for greatness daily.

Coming from a perfectionist household, I was always expected to be what my parents wanted me to be, which is likely why I’m an overachiever as an adult. I wear many hats in life, and I’m proud to say that each one of them has come to fruition out of pure joy.

I am a body-positive photographer who thrives in creating safe spaces for people in front of my lens to unfold themselves in a way they never have before. I’ve been studying the art of the human body for half my life and have a gift of seeing people in a different way than they see themselves. The fact that I am able to capture that and share with them what I see is such a blessing. It’s one of my favorite things that I do!

I started deep-diving into therapy when I was 25. I gained so much value from that experience that I kept doing it. I’m now addicted to hearing about myself. It’s something that I’m used to and open to! I love learning, growing, and being the best version of myself, even if that means my ego takes a hit.

After all that therapy, I decided I wanted to give back by getting certified In Reiki! I combine Reiki and photography into one beautiful, transformational experience. Both can be so healing; why not pair them together?

I am a podcast host! My podcast, Whitney Gets Real, is about any controversial subject that you could think of. Anything that’s taboo, you name it, it’s there! I’m not a fan of putting subjects in a box and not touching them; I love to think outside the box and push buttons. 😈

I am also the co-owner of Empower Catalyst Collective with my business partner, Cassie! We support human beings in getting out of the things that do not bring them joy, stepping into things that do and making 2 to 3 times the amount of money.

Life is too fucking short to have a shitty 9 to 5. We deserve better.

I also support OnlyFans content creators in scaling, sustaining, and launching an OnlyFans page! I believe the human body deserves to be celebrated, and if people are willing to pay for it, why not make it? It’s empowering, liberating, and awesome to know that you are the one in the driver’s seat when it comes to your OnlyFans page.

In my spare time, I love seeing live music, hiking, tubing, and traveling wherever the wind blows. I’m an adventurous spirit and open to all possibilities.

What motivated you to build a mission-focused life? What was your vision? Can you share some/all of your story?

Interestingly enough, I don’t think that I ever intended for my life to turn out like this! I truly believe that my decision-making throughout my life landed me where I am today.

When I was young, I knew I wanted to help people or animals, and I wanted to be a doctor! However, when I got to college and realized that organic chemistry was not for me, I moved into the art of photography, and my life has unfolded into this beautiful masterpiece ever since.

I started therapy in my mid-20s and just really went for it – all in, as I normally do. This really supported me and the abundance mindset I have now. After years of therapy, I was excited to take workshops and step into leadership training, where I got really clear on what I wanted in my life.

My fiancé died two days after my 29th birthday, and I vowed from that moment on that I would live the rest of my life like I was on vacation and I would do whatever it took to make it happen. His first pickup line was, “How would you like to spend the rest of your life on vacation?”

Death has an interesting way of teaching you how to live. Since then, I’ve lost my grandfather, my dog, my grandmother, my brother, and many other loved ones along the way. When you love hard, expect to lose hard. That pain is just a testament to how hard you loved.

My vision for my lifetime is to leave a more empowered, courageous, authentic, autonomous, sovereign, joyful, and passionate world behind me through my gifts of photography, mentorship, and love.

What was the first step you took to get started with your goal?

I quit allowing people to treat me like shit.

I was working at a very fancy restaurant in 2018. On Black Friday, my executive chef looked at me in front of a restaurant full of people and started swearing at me. I looked him in the eyes and told him that would be my last day. That was the beginning of my entrepreneurial journey!

What were your biggest challenges in achieving your goals? How did you overcome them?

I have challenges every day!

You look at your challenges and face them like a buffalo in a storm. The only way to fail is to stop trying. Pivot and figure it out.

What goal success tips and techniques have worked well for you that you would like to share with my readers?

Punch fear in the face.

Create mantras for yourself.

Go to therapy.

Hire mentorship.

Get a coach.

Don’t do it on your own.

One foot in front of the other – baby steps.. do what brings you joy.

Get used to hearing the word no and keep going anyway.

Do it scared.

What is one big goal you are pursuing now?

Buying a house! All by myself!

What else would you like my Operation Melt readers to know about you, your businesses, or about goal success in general?

Whether you think you can or can’t, you’re right. Your mindset is everything. Change your brain, change your life.

Didn’t you just feel Whitney’s energy, positivity and authenticity jumping off the page?

I love that Whitney’s first step to living her mission-driven life was to “quit allowing people to treat me like shit.” She stood up for herself and lit the fuse on an entirely different life. Then, she used personal trauma as further inspiration that amplified her mission.

What would you do if you decided to live the rest of your life like you were on vacation?

Let’s examine some examples of how Whitney’s story demonstrated the Project Manage Your Life principles.

  • Set SMART Goals: Whitney has a vision, or a why, that is driving her life: leave a more empowered, courageous, authentic, autonomous, sovereign, joyful, and passionate world behind me through my gifts of photography, mentorship, and love. She uses this vision as the foundation for her many SMART goals. When the journey gets tough, she stays focused on this why.
  • Build a plan that works for you: Whitney’s plan for achieving her vision is clearly unique to her. And her plan is working; she is living a bold, courageous, authentic life.
  • Expect and plan ahead for problems: Whitney knows she will encounter obstacles as she pursues her mission. She proactively manages her mindset to prepare her for navigating these obstacles.
  • Enjoy the journey: Whitney loves her life and the work she does to further her vision. Her days aren’t always perfect, but her love of her work helps her enjoy every step of the journey.

In addition to being inspired by Whitney’s vision, energy and authenticity, another part of Whitney’s story resonates with me. As someone who has undergone several years of significant body changes, I can tell you it isn’t always easy to be optimistic about your body. Whitney’s focus on helping people see, celebrate and own their beauty is invaluable. Life is too short not to be happy with who you are.

Are you ready to get started finding your life vision and purpose? Do you want to create your own SMART goals and a plan? These are things that a life coach can help you do. As a certified Master Life Coach with a left-brain-friendly approach, I would be honored to help you take the first step.

I believe in you; let me help YOU believe in you!
