Are you choosing to live a happy, fulfilling life?
Studies show that 90% of what separates a happy life from an unhappy one is within your control. One of the most powerful ways to unlock your best life is by setting, pursuing, and achieving meaningful goals.
You have the power to choose happiness—but don’t just take my word for it! Here’s how real people, just like you, are creating happiness by chasing their biggest goals.

How Two Simple Questions Led to a Bold New Venture
🌟 Welcome to this month’s Interview with a Goal-Crusher! 🌟
Each month, I sit down with someone who’s achieving big things through goal-setting and determination to uncover their secrets to success. Then, I share those insights with you—think of it as free mentoring from someone who’s already making it happen. Who wouldn’t want that?!
Using goals to succeed in life isn’t a one-and-done event—goal-crushing is a lifelong process of building the life of your dreams. And if you need proof, today’s Interview with a Goal-Crusher delivers.
Today, I’m excited to welcome back Teresa—my first-ever returning goal-crusher! I originally interviewed her two years ago about a completely different goal.
In Achieving Big Gains in Bodybuilding and Life – Secrets Exposed, I introduced my friend and former personal trainer, Teresa, and shared her journey into competitive bodybuilding. Achieving those gains required committing to a goal, building a plan, trusting the process, and having the discipline to stick with it through all the ups and downs. Teresa mastered that and found major success in bodybuilding.
So, it’s no surprise that she kept pushing forward with new goals.
Once a goal-crusher, always a goal-crusher.
Since our last interview, Teresa and her family have transitioned to living half-time in Florida. In this warm beach community, she spotted a business opportunity and turned it into a small, family-owned business.
Today’s interview dives into how Teresa transformed her business idea into a goal—and then into reality.

Please introduce yourself and tell my readers about you and what you do.
My name is Teresa Miller, and I’m a stay-at-home mom to a pretty cool little girl (June) and, recently, a business owner!
My educational background is in exercise science, and I have a master’s degree in public health. From 2017 to 2023, I worked at The Fitness Loft (where I met Tony!) as the Corporate Wellness Director—managing the personal training team, coordinating wellness events, developing local partnerships, and running a fitness facility through a global pandemic. You know, just normal, everyday things. 😀

What motivated you to start your new business? What was your vision? Can you share some/all of your story?
Around two years ago, I stepped back from my career to focus on raising our daughter. Over the past six months, I found myself wanting to dip back into the workforce.
With me being at home and my husband, Rich, working remotely, we have been fortunate enough to “snowbird” to our second property in Fort Myers Beach, Florida. If you’ve ever been to this island—or any similar small coastal beach town—you know the seasonal traffic is an absolute nightmare. Small island, one road, lots of vacationers… not a good mix.
We started brainstorming ways to alleviate the traffic problem while also helping visitors and locals on our end of the island (the south end) get to the public beach and downtown area (the north end). At the same time, I needed something that I could do remotely while still caring for our child.
It was ultimately Rich who said, “What if we ran an electric bike delivery service?” It’s eco-friendly, helps with traffic congestion, and gets people across this seven-mile-long island without sitting in traffic.
And just like that, FMB Rentals was born! 🚲 We deliver e-bikes directly to visitors or locals on the island.

What was the first step you took to get started with your goal?
I think the first step was being mentally ready to take on additional work outside of motherhood.
When you do something 13 hours a day (and sometimes at night), seven days a week, it becomes draining. Super rewarding—but also very draining.
Being mentally ready to spend the little free time I have developing and running a business was a big shift.

Now… back to this post…
What were your biggest challenges in achieving your goals? How did you overcome them?
As I mentioned earlier, my background is in health sciences. Out of six years of higher education, I only took three or four business classes. So, navigating the small details that go into running a business has definitely been a learning curve.
Thankfully, my experience at The Fitness Loft (TFL) prepared me for customer service and relationship-building. A big part of my role there was developing relationships with corporate partners—something I’m now doing with hotels and condos on the island through FMB Rentals.
I also had experience with social media marketing and content creation at TFL, which has been helpful.
However… I happily leave the bookkeeping to my co-owner (Rich), who has an MBA. 😂

What goal success tips and techniques have worked well for you that you would like to share with my readers?
I have a personality that focuses on perfection. I’m naturally anxious and want everything to be perfect before it’s ready.
But in small business (and life), you can’t let perfection get in the way of progress.
If we waited until everything was perfect, nothing would ever get done.

What is one goal you are excited about right now?
I’m really excited to see how many people we can impact on this island.
We’ve already had a lot of rentals from people calling me, saying they were stuck in traffic for hours—just to go 1.5 to 2 miles. They want a bike ASAP!
It’s rewarding to help people while also supporting the success of the island.

What else would you like my Operation Melt readers to know about you, your business, your journey or about goal success in general?
I think sometimes, not knowing is actually a good thing.
I learned this when COVID shut down TFL in March 2020. I had studied pandemics in graduate school, but I was in no way prepared to help run a fitness facility through one. But somehow, we made it happen.
We don’t have all the answers—no one does. And while I think it’s important to be prepared and think through different scenarios, there’s no way to predict the future.
Rich and I are constantly tweaking things, scrapping ideas that don’t work, and brainstorming new ideas for the business.
And that’s what makes it fun!

Wow… what a fabulous example of a lifelong goal-crusher!
Some things that particularly resonated with me in Teresa’s story include:
- It started with an unexpected confluence of events. She was getting into the “I’m ready to start working” mindset while also asking herself, “How can I improve this traffic issue that’s making my amazing community a little less amazing?” Then, the magic of brainpower and collaboration led to her lightbulb moment. 💡
- She challenged a self-limiting tendency and embraced progress over perfection.
- She had confidence in her ability to learn what she didn’t know and looked to past experiences to reinforce her can-do attitude.
Beyond those aha moments, Teresa’s story is a clear example of my Project Manage Your Life principles in action.
How Teresa Used Project Manage Your Life principles to Crush Her Goal:
- Commit to SMART Goals: Teresa knew her goal and her why—to launch an electric bike delivery service that would both mitigate a problem in her community and allow her to return to work.
- Build a Plan That Works for You: Teresa’s plan was to start small, embrace progress over perfection, and learn as she went. This approach wouldn’t work for everyone, but it worked for her. She also understood when to work with her natural tendencies and when to challenge them.
- Expect and Plan Ahead for Problems: Teresa found a balance between planning for obstacles and embracing the unknown. She put it best: “I think it’s important to be prepared and think through different scenarios, but there’s no way to predict the future.”
- Measure Progress Every Day: While Teresa didn’t mention this directly, I know she’s tracking her numbers. She knows exactly how many customers she served today vs. yesterday vs. last week. She’s keeping an eye on sales, growth, and profitability.
- Don’t Go It Alone: Teresa’s business is a team effort with her husband, Rich. They are leveraging each other’s strengths to make this dream a reality. She’s also building strong relationships with potential partners and customers—because a successful business is built on connections.
- Enjoy the Journey: Teresa is having fun with this venture while making a real impact on her community. This fulfilling combination makes the hard work worth it!
Two Essential Questions That Spark Fulfilling Goals
Goal-crushers like Teresa often begin their journeys with two powerful questions:
1️⃣ “How might I…?” → Teresa recognized a problem—horrible traffic—and asked herself, “How might I improve this?”
2️⃣ “What if…?” → Then, she thought, “What if I launched an electric bike delivery service to help?”
Those two simple questions led her to create a goal and embark on a fulfilling journey to launch her business.
Now, it’s your turn.
- What are the “How might I…” and “What if…” questions that could lead to your next big goal?
- What ideas and dreams are trapped inside you, just waiting for permission to become real goals?
