Goal crushers are juggling a lot, but “too busy” doesn’t get to run the show. You already have 168 hours each week, and they can start working harder for you. Two intentional time tweaks can open up space for what actually matters.
Welcome to Ask Coach Tony!
Hi, I’m Coach Tony, and this is Ask Coach Tony.
These are unfiltered field notes from the goal-crushing life: coaching wins, personal breakthroughs, and the failures that taught both me and my clients the most. All real, all useful, all here to help you move forward.
Ready for a dad joke?
Before we dive in, here's a groan-worthy dad joke as a little palate cleanser. I promise it will be worth every penny you paid for it. 😂
Sadly, the inventor of the throat lozenge has died.
I'm guessing there won't be any coffin at that funeral.
Too Busy? Stop Waiting for Time. Start Building It.
Throughout February, I am helping you eliminate the phrase “too busy” from your life.
Last week, we talked about replacing “I’m too busy” with something more honest and paying closer attention to how your time aligns with your priorities.
This week, we focus on the practical side of the equation. How to make it all fit.
One thing I know about the Goal Crusher Community is this. You get shit done.
Between families, continuing your education, side hustles, training plans, and careers, your life is full.
That is exactly why you are intentional with your time.
You do not wait for space to appear.
You build it.
Today, I want to spotlight two techniques you have told me work especially well. If you are not using them yet, consider this an invitation to add them to your get shit done toolbox.
Do You Have an Appointment?
When was the last time you skipped something on your to-do list?
If you are like most people, it probably happens all the time. You get to the end of the week, and a few things just did not happen.
Now ask yourself this. When was the last time you skipped an appointment on your calendar?
That is a much rarer occurrence.
When you put something on your calendar, you are doing more than saying, “I want to do this.” You are saying, “I am committing to do this on this day at this time.” That simple act adds a layer of accountability that your to-do list cannot match.
That is exactly why this works so well for the Goal Crusher Community. The things on your calendar tend to get done.
If something matters to you, put it on your calendar.
That could be a workout.
Focused time working on a goal you keep postponing.
A daily practice that supports your mental or physical health.
When you treat commitments to yourself with the same respect as an oil change or a meeting, follow-through becomes much more likely.
Many goal crushers take this one step further through time blocking. Time blocking is the practice of intentionally planning your day in blocks of time dedicated to specific types of work or activities. Instead of reacting to whatever shows up, you decide in advance how your time will be used.
Time blocking helps every hour start with purpose instead of scrambling to find time after the day has already taken over.
One important note. Be mindful of your prime time. That is the part of the day when your energy and focus are naturally strongest. Whenever possible, schedule your most important or demanding work during that window. You are not just managing time. You are managing energy.
Stacks on Stacks on Stacks
The second technique you have told me works especially well is habit stacking.
Habit stacking is the practice of pairing activities so they happen together. Most often, it means combining something you need to do with something you enjoy, which reduces friction and makes follow-through easier.
Lindsay shared a great example of this in her interview. Habit stacking allows her to pair something she does not love, like folding laundry, with something she looks forward to, like listening to a new podcast.
I used the same approach during my weight loss journey by working my brain through audiobooks and podcasts while working my body during exercise. It is a habit stack that still works for me today.
Beyond just getting more done, this is also a simple way to live out one of the Project Manage Your Life principles: enjoy the journey. When the process feels lighter, progress becomes more sustainable. You are not just checking boxes. You are building habits that support long-term follow-through.
Are You Telling Me You Built a Time Machine Out of a DeLorean?!
Time management tools and hacks absolutely help you, goal crushers, get shit done. But that is only the beginning of the story.
This month, we are taking it one step further by building a time machine together in the Goal Crusher Coffee Chat. No DeLorean required.
None of Your Busyness
A time machine for people who feel “too busy”.
In this session, we will walk through practical steps the Goal Crusher Community uses to reclaim your days.
Then we will turn those practices into action. During the roundtable portion of the chat, we will challenge ourselves with one powerful question:
What’s one step you could take to find 30 minutes each day to work on something that matters to you?
Let’s admit “too busy” is cringe, and intentional goal crushing is fire.

Do you feel like you’re in control of every hour of your day and accomplishing what you want? By applying two of the Goal Crusher Community’s favorite time management practices, you stop reacting to your days and start running them. When you give every hour a purpose and start stacking habits, you get more done and feel happier while doing it.
You’re here for a reason. Let’s take the next step.
